Ponto-Caspian Invasive Species Experts Group (PCISEG)

The Ponto-Caspian Invasive Species Experts Group (PCISEG) was established in 2010 by initiative of the European Research and management Network on Aquatic Invasive Species (ERNAIS) and with support from the European Commission FP7 Programme collaborative project enviroGRIDS

The main objectives of PCISEG as international working group include:

- to facilitate international cooperation in research and management of Ponto-Caspian invasive species;

- to facilitate research of invasive species in the Ponto-Caspian area as internationally recognized hot spot of biological pollution and important donor area of invasive species for Europe and North America (specifically, to study native range of invasive Ponto-Caspian species);

- to provide expertise and technical support in species identification, including development of identification keys and illustrated atlases;

- to contribute with data and expertise to the developing regional information and early warning systems.
