Initial development of REABIC web site was supported by the European Commission Sixth Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development Integrated Project ALARM. For main results of ALARM Aquatic Group work please see Panov et al. 2009 and Panov et al. 2010. ALARM also provided start-up funding for establishment of international open-access journal “Aquatic Invasions” - as instrument of protection of authors rights on primary information on the records of aquatic invasive species used further in risk assessments and for early warning purposes (see initial concept of “Aquatic Invasions” in the editorial paper by Panov and Gollasch 2006.
